YAMAHA’S 2007 R1 GETS MICRON’S MOTOGP TREATMENT

ImageFollowing the recent announcement of Micron’s new exhaust products for the Suzuki GSX-R1000K7, the company has launched its popular MotoGP system for Yamaha’s 2007 YZF1000R1.

The twin underseat end-cans are manufactured using the same, award-winning Hydroform process as Micron’s side-mounted MotoGP silencers and follow similar design cues, whilst enhancing the flowing lines of Yamaha’s flagship machine.

With the road-legal, removable baffle in place, the R1 MotoGP silencers add a 2bhp power increase across the rev range. The removal of the insert, however, and addition of Micron’s full Hydroformed pipework system leads to a boost of 6bhp at peak power and a healthy 11bhp in the mid-range.

The twin MotoGP silencers are available in satin, black or polished steel finishes and offer a weight saving of 1.5kg over the standard units or a total of almost 5kg when combined with the Hydroformed pipework.

“Power and weight are obviously crucial aspects of supersport design,” commented Micron’s Mick Slater, “and our new MotoGP silencers improve both for the 2007 R1. But we also believe that they improve the aesthetics of the bike and the overall performance is even more impressive when combined with our full Hydroformed system.”
